Do you burn easily?
Do you have lots of moles or freckles?
Has anyone in your family had skin cancer?
Sunburn can double your risk of skin cancer. The sun’s rays are strongest between 11 and 3 so think about:
Spending time in the shade
Covering up with a shirt and hat
Using 15+ sunscreen
Always check your skin and if you notice changes in the size, shape or colour of moles or freckles see your doctor without delay. Remember finding skin cancer early saves lives!
Morland House is one of 12 GP surgeries across the Thames Valley attached to the Thames Valley Primary Care Research Partnership with the University of Oxford. This means that over the next 18 months we will be inviting some patients to assist with research into medical conditions with a view to improving diagnosis, care and treatment in the future. There is no obligation to take part if asked and strict patient confidentiality rules will apply at all times.
We would like to thank all those patents who have volunteered to assist with research projects in the last few months.
National Carers Week is concentrating on the often unseen and largely unrecognised contribution that unpaid carers make and raising awareness of the services available to support them.
Do you look after someone with a physical or mental illness or disability, a learning disability or frailty which needs support to live at home?
If you answer yes, then you are a carer.
For free, friendly, confidential advice, information and support for carers phone South and Vale Carers centre 01235 510212
Information on support for carers is also available in the surgery or on the website www.oxoncarers.org.uk

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK. 1 in 10 men and women under the age of 25 who are tested are found to have it. The problem however is that most people have no symptoms so don't know they have it.
If you are a man or woman under 25 years old and have ever had sex you can have a simple free test to check for Chlamydia . Test kits are available on request from reception, your doctor or practice nurse.
We are very pleased to welcome our 3 new members of staff Maralyn Ward and Amanda Bestley Receptionists and Linda Sammons part time Administrator.
We hope that they will be very happy working at Morland House.
Our surgery website is regularly updated and can be used for booking appointments and requesting prescriptions. It also contains lots of useful patient information about the services we offer. In addition there are links to other services.
