Health Visitors:
Based in The Barn at the surgery, Health Visitor Gerry Jewell and Community Staff Nurse Sally Carpenter provide health promotion and advice to all age groups on a variety of health and social issues.
Both Gerry and Sally are qualified nurses who have additional training in family and child health matters. They aim to help with the everyday challenges of parenthood providing advice on a number of child care issues including minor illness, behaviour issues and child development. Gerry and Sally also support mothers after the birth of there babies in particular regards to breast-feeding, postnatal depression and general well being. They also have knowledge of local support groups in the area.
Every Wednesday Gerry and Sally run a child health clinic in the surgery for well babies and children under 5 years, along with Dr Harnden. The clinic is run between 1:30 and 3:30 pm. Here your baby can be weighed and immunized and you can seek advice on any aspect of bringing up your children.
Gerry and Sally also offer a health review when your child is 8 months, 2 years and 3.5 years. This is by appointment only and gives you the chance to discuss your child's development.
