When travelling abroad – what we can and not do for you

There are guidelines if you or a relative registered with Morland House Surgery need to contact your GP whilst abroad. We may be able to assist you with basic administrative requests, such as a repeat prescription or to cancel/reschedule an appointment.

Whilst abroad we CAN help you with:

  • An urgent request for emailed medical records due to an emergency admission
  • A deterioration in an ongoing condition
  • The contraction of an illness whilst abroad
  • A request to change an appointment time which has been scheduled (perhaps due to your trip being delayed)
  • A request for a repeat prescription to be prepared in time for your return (if you are due to run out).

However, Morland House Surgery is unable to offer medical advice to a patient who is known to be abroad and presenting with a new condition. We will strongly encourage the patient to seek medical assistance locally.

Whilst abroad, please be aware that we will NOT be able to:

  • Provide any medical advice by phone, email or video link
  • Provide an electronic transfer prescription, should you run out of medication
  • Source a doctor or medical assistance
  • Ensure there are suitable medication supplies at your intended destination.

If you have any questions regarding how we can assist medically on your next trip please call the practice on 01865 872448.
